Job summary

Datamatics Technologies LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Design System Engineer to lead the development, governance, and adoption of enterprise Design Systems. You will bridge design and engineering to ensure consistency, accessibility, and reusability across products.

You will collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams, translate design tokens into code, and mentor junior engineers. The role emphasizes scalable architecture and governance in a large enterprise context.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of Front-End Engineering, UI Engineering, or Design System development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3.
• Experience with React and component-based architectures.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale Design Systems.
• Knowledge of Design Tokens, Atomic Design, and accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and evolve a scalable Design System and reusable component library.
• Collaborate with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineering teams.
• Develop accessible, responsive, and reusable UI components.
• Define and enforce design system standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Establish governance processes to ensure design consistency across products.
• Translate design tokens, patterns, and specifications into production-ready code.
• Drive adoption of the Design System across teams and units.
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 compliance and responsive design principles.
• Monitor system performance, scalability, and usability improvements.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design System Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and governance of our enterprise Design System. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between Design and Engineering, ensuring consistency, scalability, accessibility, and reusability across digital products and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and evolve a scalable Design System and reusable component library.
• Collaborate closely with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineering teams.
• Develop high-quality, accessible, responsive, and reusable UI components.
• Define and enforce design system standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Establish governance processes to ensure design consistency across products.
• Translate design tokens, patterns, and specifications into production-ready code.
• Drive adoption of the Design System across multiple teams and business units.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design principles.
• Monitor system performance, scalability, and usability improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership for front-end architecture decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in Front-End Engineering, UI Engineering, or Design System development.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with React and component-based architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale Design Systems.
• Strong understanding of Design Tokens, Atomic Design, and Component Libraries.
• Experience with Storybook, Figma, and design-to-development workflows.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and responsive design principles.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Design System governance and adoption strategies.
• Knowledge of micro-frontends and scalable UI architectures.
• Experience integrating Design Systems across web and mobile platforms.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
