Job summary

VirtuCruit LLC in Saudi Arabia seeks a Senior Chemist to lead shift operations in a fast-paced mining laboratory. You will supervise the lab team, ensure timely analyses, enforce safety and quality standards, and coordinate with Process and Geology as needed.

The role requires a chemistry degree, 7+ years of lab experience (mining preferred), and strong AAS/ICP/Fire Assay skills. Excellent English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
• 7+ years of laboratory experience (mining lab preferred).
• Experience in Fire Assay and/or AAS/ICP.
• ISO 17025 QA/QC knowledge.
• Strong awareness of laboratory safety practices.
• Good English communication skills (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest level of safety, health and environmental standards.
• Supervise daily lab work (sample prep, fire assay, wet chemistry, AAS/ICP).
• Manage shift crew to complete work safely and on time.
• Follow up on sample priorities and turnaround times.
• Ensure routine QA/QC checks (CRMs, duplicates, control monitoring).
• Apply ISO 17025 laboratory practices in daily operations.
• Maintain and review QC data (control charts, trends).
• Coordinate with Process/Geology and other departments as needed.
• Mentor and develop local staff; promote growth and development.

Job description

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Chemist to join our

team in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will support daily laboratory operations and

oversee shift activities within a fast-paced mining laboratory environment. This role involves

supervising the shift team, ensuring timely completion of analyses, and upholding strict safety

and quality standards throughout the laboratory.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
• Supervise daily lab work (sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, AAS/ICP; XRF experience would be an asset).
• Manage and guide shift crew to ensure work is completed safely and on time.
• Follow up on sample priorities and turnaround times.
• Ensure routine QA/QC checks (CRMs, duplicates, control monitoring).
• Apply and enforce ISO 17025 laboratory practices in daily operations.
• Maintain and review QC data (control charts, trends, deviations).
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, especially hazardous chemical handling.
• Identify and report non-conformities and deviations.
• Support troubleshooting of routine analytical issues.
• Coordinate with other departments when needed (Process, Geology, etc.).
• Supports the development and training of local nationals by providing mentorship, guidance, and coaching, leading to their growth and development.

QUALIFICATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
• 7+ years of laboratory experience (mining laboratory experience preferred).
• Experience in Fire Assay and/or AAS/ICP.
• Previous supervisory or senior role experience is an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of ISO 17025 and QA/QC systems.
• Strong awareness of laboratory safety practices.
• Good English communication skills (both oral and written).
