Job summary

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority seeks a capable finance professional to operate with minimal supervision and contribute to complex reporting within established guidelines. You will support closing processes, develop required reports, and assist in policy implementation to ensure accurate financial management.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent is required, with at least 2 years of relevant experience, and a focus on adherence to reporting standards and effective resource

Responsibilities

• Develop financial statements, chart of accounts, financial position forecasts, and other reports for management.
• Support other functions regarding accounting policies and closing procedures.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing and provide training as needed.
• Address non-compliance cases from audits and mitigate risks.
• Monitor transactions and postings for accuracy and conformance to standards.
• Review bank reconciliations for all accounts and ensure matches.
• Execute closing processes and report discrepancies to stakeholders.
• Review periodic financial reports for compliance with standards.

Job description

Purpose of Job

Jobholders at this level are capable of operating with minimal supervision. They work within guidelines and procedures in order to prepare more complex, specialized or ad-hoc reports in their related field. They contribute to the completion of milestones or operational targets within the assigned functional area. They undertake operational activities including supporting other functions in closing processes, and developing required reports.

Job Resposiblites

• Develop financial statements, chart of accounts, financial position forecasts, and other reports required by management in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide support to other functions regarding accounting and closing policies and procedures, efficient controls, and utilization of financial resources
• Assist functions in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and provide required support and training
• Tackle non-compliance cases resulting from audits/ General Court of Audit findings and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks and recurrence
• Monitor the recording of transactions, journal entries and postings to ledgers assessing accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards
• Review bank reconciliations for all bank accounts ensuring matching
• Execute periodic (daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly) closing processes, communicate with internal stakeholders to fix discrepancies, and report non-compliant cases
• Review periodic financial reports ensuring reported results comply with financial reporting standards

Job Details

Follow all relevant policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner

• Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner
• Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly
• Perform other duties as requested
