Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Riyadh is seeking a Technical Engineer - Quantity Surveyor to manage project budgets, review technical requirements, and provide cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have experience in quantity surveying and be proficient in relevant software. Responsibilities include analyzing project costs, reviewing contracts, and ensuring accurate invoicing. Candidates must have strong communication skills and technical evaluation abilities. This is a full-time position for Saudi nationals.

Technical Engineer - Quantity Surveyor (MEP)

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities
  • Participate in defining and reviewing technical requirements for projects.
  • Conduct analysis of project quantities and cost estimates.
  • Review tender, bidding, and contract documents.
  • Provide technical advice on contracting and procurement procedures.
  • Review contractors’ invoices quantities in coordination with the supervising engineer.
  • Evaluate executed works and process payment certifications accordingly.
  • Manage project budgets and costs, and monitor financial performance.
  • Review surveying and engineering drawings, including cut and fill quantities.
  • Review design documents issued by engineering consultants.
  • Perform quantity surveying for all BOQ items based on approved drawings.
  • Compare quantities shown in drawings with those in the BOQ and resolve discrepancies at early project stages.
  • Measure and calculate actual executed quantities and verify them against approved drawings.
  • Ensure that quantities in contractors’ invoices do not exceed approved BOQ quantities.
  • Conduct site measurements and review as-built drawings.
  • Perform final quantity reviews at project completion and reconcile them with the final invoice.
  • Prepare the final project report, including details of contract savings and deficits.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive documentation system for all project records.
Other Qualifications or Certifications
  • Proficiency in design and quantity surveying software.
  • Practical experience in reading engineering drawings and calculating quantities from drawings and site measurements.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to analyze problems, innovate, and propose effective technical solutions.
  • General knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical evaluation skills with the ability to produce accurate and professional reports.
