The role requires strong technical expertise in architectural finishes, high-end interior fit-out, stone and marble fabrication and installation, ensuring that all works meet the required standards of workmanship, dimensional accuracy, alignment, levelness, joint consistency, surface finish, and overall aesthetic quality.

The QC Engineer shall coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and project management teams to identify quality issues, prevent defects, and ensure that all completed works comply with project requirements before handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect all architectural finishing and interior fit-out activities, including flooring, wall cladding, ceilings, gypsum works, painting, tiling, joinery, doors, decorative finishes, and other interior works.
  • Ensure all executed works comply with approved shop drawings, technical specifications, material approvals, and project quality requirements.
  • Verify dimensions, levels, alignment, verticality, surface flatness, edge details, and finishing quality.
  • Inspect interfaces between different finishing materials to ensure proper coordination, clean transitions, and high-quality workmanship.
  • Conduct site inspections at each stage of work to identify defects before subsequent activities proceed.
  1. Stone and Marble Quality Control
  • Perform detailed inspections of natural stone and marble materials, including marble, granite, limestone, travertine, and other decorative stone finishes.
  • Verify material type, color, veining, texture, thickness, dimensions, finish, and overall consistency against approved samples and material submittals.
  • Inspect stone and marble slabs, tiles, and fabricated pieces for cracks, chips, scratches, stains, discoloration, edge damage, and other visual or dimensional defects.
  • Verify slab selection, vein matching, bookmatching, grain direction, color consistency, and layout patterns in accordance with approved drawings and samples.
  • Inspect stone fabrication, cutting, edge profiling, mitre joints, corner details, openings, cut-outs, and polishing quality.
  • Monitor stone and marble installation, ensuring correct setting-out, alignment, levelness, joint width, lippage control, fixing systems, adhesive application, and anchoring methods.
  • Verify substrate preparation, waterproofing where applicable, backing supports, mechanical fixing systems, and installation methods according to approved details and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Inspect grouting, joint filling, sealant application, staining protection, cleaning, polishing, and final finishing.
  • Ensure proper handling, transportation, storage, and protection of stone and marble materials to prevent damage before and after installation.
  • Identify and report unacceptable workmanship, material defects, and installation deviations, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  1. Inspection and Quality Documentation
  • Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs/WIRs) and coordinate inspections with the consultant and client representatives.
  • Review approved shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project specifications before work execution.
  • Maintain inspection records, checklists, material inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality documentation.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective or non-compliant works and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Verify that corrective works have been completed satisfactorily before requesting reinspection.
  • Maintain photographic records of site inspections, defects, corrective actions, and completed works.
  • Support the preparation of snag lists, de-snagging inspections, and final handover documentation.
  1. Site Coordination and Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate with site engineers, finishing engineers, subcontractors, stone suppliers, fabrication workshops, consultants, and project management teams.
  • Review and inspect mock‑ups and sample installations before approving or recommending approval for mass production and installation.
  • Monitor workmanship during execution and provide technical guidance to prevent recurring quality defects.
  • Ensure materials and workmanship are consistent with approved samples, design intent, project specifications, and client expectations.
  • Participate in quality meetings, progress inspections, and technical coordination meetings.
  • Ensure completed works are properly protected against damage caused by subsequent construction activities.
  • Monitor compliance with approved quality procedures, relevant standards, and project‑specific requirements.
  1. Final Inspection and Handover

  • Verify uniformity of finishes, joint consistency, alignment, surface condition, cleanliness, and overall visual appearance.

  • Identify and document defects, incomplete works, and deviations from approved requirements.

  • Follow up on snagging and de‑snagging activities until all quality issues are resolved.

  • Ensure proper cleaning, sealing, polishing, protection, and maintenance requirements are completed before handover.
