Job description

The Core Banking Consultant is responsible for supporting, validating, and ensuring end-to-end functionality of core banking and financing systems, with a strong focus on Islamic financing products. The role works closely with business, technology, and testing teams to validate system behavior across the full financing lifecycle, ensuring accuracy in calculations, integrations, and accounting postings.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand Business Specification Documents (BSDs) for financing products including Ijarah and Murabaha
• Design and execute test scenarios, test cases, and test data across core banking and related systems
• Perform functional and integration testing for:
• Loan Origination Systems (LOS) – Retail, SME, and Corporate
• Loan Management Systems (LMS) – Retail, SME, and Corporate
• Collections and Securitization modules
• CRM systems (basic knowledge preferred)
• Test the end-to-end financing lifecycle including onboarding, application, approval, asset booking, disbursement, repayment, servicing, and loan closure
• Validate profit calculations, rental schedules, balloon payments, penalties, and all termination scenarios
• Perform integration testing between internal banking systems and external services
• Validate accounting entries and General Ledger (GL) postings for Murabaha and Ijarah contracts
• Execute COB (Close of Business) batch testing, reconciliation, and reporting validations
• Conduct regression testing for financing products and system enhancements
• Log, track, and manage defects through to resolution in coordination with technical teams
• Ensure compliance with business rules, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience working as a Core Banking / Banking Domain Consultant
• Strong understanding of Islamic financing products, specifically Ijarah and Murabaha
• Hands-on experience with Retail, SME, and Corporate financing systems
• Strong knowledge of financial calculations including EMI, charges, write-offs, provisions, and all types of terminations
• Experience validating accounting entries and GL postings
• Familiarity with securitization concepts including pool creation, servicing, and reconciliation
• Experience working with end-to-end core banking or financing system implementations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
