Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Project Lead Engineer – Primary to design, communicate, and implement an operational plan for engineering projects including GIS infrastructure, equipment, and related services.

The role requires 8–10 years in GIS, a bachelor’s in electrical/mechanical engineering, and fluency in English and Arabic. You will lead engineering activities, prepare designs and specifications, and coordinate procurement and subcontractors on large-scale substations and GIS projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
• 8–10 years of GIS experience.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic (written & spoken).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for tendering and execution of GIS-based projects.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and BOQ for engineered GIS items.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain for procurement of materials and services.
• Lead discussions with customers and address site queries.
• Review deliverables before client submission.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and Hitachi Energy procedures.

Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. May include preparing engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors A Senior Professional (P3) applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include: Managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

How You’ll Make An Impact

You will play a critical role in Providing technical support for tendering & Execution of Customer projects, preparation of Primary drawings & Bill of Quantities for Engineered items of Gas insulated Switchgears, Technical lead for Substations, Overall responsibility for managing and leading all engineering activities of the project, prepare specifications, check supplier’s offers & co-ordinate with Supply Chain Management for procurement of materials, equipment’s & Services.

• Lead & attend discussions with customers, handle site queries and take necessary actions.
• Helping apprentices, entry-level engineers, technicians, and support teams with design questions.
• Review of deliverables before submission to client.
• Review and preparation of technical documents for procurement of Current transformers and voltage transformers.
• Participate in customer meetings as required. Active participation in project review meeting.
• Active project contribution to reduce the lead time and cost of the offered GIS solution by developing a solution as per project technical requirements.
• Adhere to the detailed project plan to meet on time delivery.
• To ensure quality of deliverable as top priority.
• To focus on optimized solutions with benefit to customer and HE.
• Interface with civil, steel and application engineers on systems / solutions part from Hitachi Energy / EPC companies.
• You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in Gas insulated Switchgear (GIS) roles.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written in English & Arabic language is required.
