Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in materials science, chemical/mechanical engineering, electrochemistry or related field.
  • Hands-on battery safety characterization experience (ARC/DSC/nail penetration/overcharge).
  • Experience with multiphysics modelling and battery-focused simulation.
  • Strong coding skills for data analysis and model development.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication in interdisciplinary research.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to assess thermal stability and safety of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Develop and validate electrochemical-thermal-mechanical models for battery behavior and safety.
  • Analyze failure mechanisms and connect cell- to pack-level safety performance.
  • Create model-based and data-driven battery management frameworks.
  • Investigate thermal management, fire suppression, and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations; mentor students when needed.
