Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical/Piping Inspector. You are responsible for ensuring the integrity and safety of piping systems within engineering projects. Your role involves conducting inspections, assessments, and evaluations of piping installations, systems, and components to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of piping systems during various stages of installation, from fabrication to final commissioning, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Review piping design drawings, schematics, and specifications to identify any potential issues or discrepancies.
  • Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI), and radiographic testing (RT) to assess the condition of piping systems.
  • Verify the quality of materials and welding processes used in the fabrication and installation of piping systems, ensuring adherence to the relevant codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ASTM).
  • Inspect and verify the installation of pipe supports, hangers, and brackets to ensure structural integrity and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, issues, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during inspections, contributing to the overall safety and risk management strategies of the project.
  • Monitor the progress of piping construction to ensure it aligns with design specifications, schedules, and safety guidelines.
  • Advise on necessary adjustments or repairs based on inspection results to optimize the functionality and reliability of piping systems.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in non-destructive testing methods and inspection techniques (e.g., UT, MPI, RT).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they become problems.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to document and explain inspection findings clearly.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify defects or discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Expertise in industry codes and standards related to piping systems (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM).
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Piping Inspector (e.g., API 570, CSWIP 3.1) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in piping inspection or a related field within the engineering or construction industry.
