Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to monitor and inspect mechanical works across the construction lifecycle, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will review drawings, submittals, and methods, and coordinate with teams to resolve issues on hospitality developments. Responsibilities include site inspections of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems, witnessing tests and commissioning, and producing inspection reports while upholding

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in mechanical inspection and construction supervision.
  • Proven experience on hotel, hospitality, mixed-use, or luxury hospitality developments.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building services systems.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, SMACNA, local regs).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review technical drawings, specs, and docs.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong QA/QC understanding in construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections of mechanical systems during all construction phases.
  • Review drawings, specs, submittals, and method statements for compliance.
  • Monitor activities to ensure installations follow approved documents and standards.
  • Inspect delivered materials and verify conformance with specs.
  • Identify and report non-conformities and track corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project management on technical issues.
  • Witness testing, commissioning, and performance verification of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly inspection reports and maintain records.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, enviro regulations and Jacobs QA standards.
  • Participate in snagging, de-snagging and final handover inspections.
  • Support project teams to achieve timely milestones and delivery.

Your impact

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting mechanical works throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance are achieved. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of world-class hospitality projects while supporting Jacobs' commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, LPG systems, and vertical transportation interfaces, during all phases of construction.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure installations are performed in accordance with approved drawings, contract documents, local regulations, and international standards.
  • Inspect materials delivered to site and verify compliance with approved submittals and project specifications.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities, defects, and quality concerns, and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project management teams to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
  • Witness testing, commissioning activities, and performance verification of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports, maintaining accurate records of inspections, observations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements and Jacobs' quality management standards.
  • Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and final inspections prior to project handover.
  • Support project teams in achieving timely completion of construction milestones and successful project delivery
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience working on hotel, hospitality, mixed-use, or luxury hospitality developments.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building services systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and review technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.

  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes within construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and common construction management platforms.
