Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking an engineer to develop mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs for seawater RO desalination systems in Saudi Arabia. You will design RO trains, pretreatment, and post-treatment units, and prepare detailed equipment specifications.

You will analyze membrane performance, run hydraulic calculations, and contribute to project deliverables, reviews, and commissioning activities, coordinating with multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant field.
• Experience with mass and energy balances, PFDs and P&IDs for desalination.
• Background in seawater RO systems and membrane processes.
• Ability to analyze lab data, pilot results, and optimize performance.
• HAZOP and design review exposure is desirable.

?? Engineering Design & Process Development

• Develop mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs for seawater RO desalination systems.
• Design and size RO trains, pumps, pretreatment units (coagulation, media filtration, UF), and post-treatment (remineralization, CO? dosing).
• Prepare detailed specifications for equipment: pressure vessels, membranes, dosing systems, and chemical treatment units.
• Analyze and optimize membrane performance using software
• Perform hydraulic calculations for multiport vessels and high-pressure piping networks.

? Technical Analysis & Modeling

• Conduct system simulations to predict performance under varying feedwater conditions.
• Perform recovery, energy consumption, and membrane fouling rate analysis.
• Evaluate energy recovery devices (ERDs) and design pressure exchanger systems.
• Review and analyze laboratory data, pilot trials, and membrane autopsy reports.

? Project Execution & Documentation

• Lead or review engineering deliverables: design reports, datasheets, BOQs, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces with civil, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical teams.
• Participate in HAZOP, design reviews (3D model reviews, RAM studies), and risk assessments.
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning.
• Diagnose and resolve process bottlenecks, membrane fouling, scaling, or plant underperformance.
• Train operations teams on membrane cleaning procedures (CIP), energy optimization, and water quality control.
