Job description

Job ID: 3134827 | Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and allows you to own projects to completion.

Logistics Specialists play a vital role in the success of Amazon Web Services by providing the right part, in the right place at the right time. Your contribution to this success would be maintaining the onsite parts room in AWS Data Centers, by managing the custody of computer hardware through its entire lifecycle. This involves receiving parts, safely storing parts, picking and delivering parts to hardware technicians, cycle counts, and shipping faulty hardware back to the vendor. You will work closely with Data Centre Operations and Engineering teams to ensure reliable functioning and repair activities to support our customers, while adhering to our operational tenants of safety, security and availability.

Key job responsibilities
  • Maintaining inventory to ensure that proper stock levels are managed to support build and repair activities.
  • Physically receiving and issuing parts as needed for internal customers.
  • Loading, unloading and transporting parts between different sites.
  • Keeping accurate stock records for all items within our care through physical cycle counts.
  • Maintaining the safety, organization, and cleanliness of all workspaces using Amazon 7S principles.
Travel

The role may require travel to other sites in the Melbourne metro area to assist in conducting cycle counts, receiving stock into the inventory control system, replenishing stock and returning defective stock. Travel between sites will require your own transport, all travel related costs will be reimbursed.

Physical / Environmental Demands
  • Loading and unloading shipments.
  • Standing, sitting, and walking (including stairs) for prolonged periods of time.
  • Willingness and ability to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and kneel.
  • Reaching and stretching to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
  • Push or pull heavy objects of up to 16 kg into position and participate in group lifts of 20 kg or more.
  • Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in an office and warehouse environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
A day in the life

Your day will be spent carrying out logistical support functions for our data centers. This will involve physical control and processing of spare parts transactions, consumables stock replenishment, and cycle counting of stock.

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of program management, logistics, operations, supply chain, transportation, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of shipping & receiving, inventory and warehousing practices experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of logistics, transportation, supply chain, import/export operations, or data entry/data administration experience.
