Job Description – Senior IBM API Connect Developer

Contract: Yearly Renewable

Role: Senior IBM API Connect Developer

We are looking for a Senior IBM API Connect Developer to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reusable APIs for a Saudi banking client. The role emphasizes IBM API Connect (APIC), API lifecycle management, and integration with enterprise middleware platforms including DataPower, ACE, and CP4I. The candidate will play a key role in enabling API-led connectivity across banking systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, publish, and manage APIs using IBM API Connect (APIC).
• Implement API lifecycle management including versioning, security, throttling, and monitoring.
• Develop REST/SOAP APIs aligned with enterprise integration and microservices architecture.
• Configure and manage API security policies including OAuth, JWT, mutual TLS, and certificates.
• Integrate APIs with backend systems using ACE, MQ, DataPower, and databases.
• Perform API design reviews and ensure adherence to banking and enterprise standards.
• Conduct unit testing, API testing, and support end-to-end integration testing.
• Collaborate with Architects, Middleware teams, and business stakeholders to deliver API solutions.
• Troubleshoot API performance, security, and runtime issues; perform root cause analysis.
• Document API specifications, technical designs, and operational procedures.
• Support production deployments and ongoing maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.
• 9–10 years of overall development experience, with 5–6 years focused on IBM API Connect (APIC).
• Strong hands‑on experience with DataPower (DP) and API gateway configurations.
• Proven experience with OpenShift and Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I).
• Strong understanding of API‑led connectivity, RESTful services, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with API security, governance, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with XML, JSON, fixed-length, and other message formats.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Prior experience in banking or financial services environments is highly desirable.
