Job summary

A leading maritime engineering company in Saudi Arabia is seeking a Mechanical Inspection professional. The successful candidate will ensure that all mechanical inspection activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with requisite standards. Candidates should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and at least 6 to 9 years of experience in marine engineering industries, with certifications such as Welding Inspection and ISO auditor preferred. This role is essential for maintaining high quality in mechanical operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 – 9 years of experience in marine engineering quality works.
  • Extra certifications related to quality management are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment installation and commissioning.

Description

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

To ensure that all mechanical inspection related activities are safely, effectively, and efficiently carried out in accordance with applicable technical requirements, company policies, procedures, and the Management System requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Review, verify, and interpret materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals, and blueprints, to determine inspection and test requirements.
  • Test and measure finished products, components, or assemblies for functionality, operation, accuracy, or to verify adherence to functional specifications. Read dials and meters to ensure that equipment is operating according to specifications.
  • Mark items for acceptance or rejection, record test results and inspection data, and compare findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards. Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Ensure that all installation activities for the mechanical and pressure testing department are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, client specification and/or other applicable technical documentation.
  • Complete and endorse all inspection records from initial inspection till final acceptance of the various mechanical and associated work, practical application of engineering science and technology to ensure smooth mechanical operations including use of techniques, procedures, and equipment from the design stage to production of various parts and final assembly/release to clients.
  • Maintain interface with the Client to ensure that all contractual and code requirements are met as far as the inspection scope is concerned.
  • Determine and develop all standards and procedures necessary to perform inspection and tests on items and oversee all testing methods while maintaining high standards of quality for all processes.
  • Develop method statement for activities (when necessary) including risk assessment, job safety & environmental analysis, Inspection & Test Plan and Checklists based on project specifications.
  • Possess knowledge in mechanical equipment installation and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
  • Welding Inspection (CSWIP 3.1/AWS-CWI or equivalent schemes)
  • ISO 9001:2015 auditor or lead auditor certification. Any other certification relating to above and project quality management will be added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 – 9 years’ experience, relating to quality works of marine engineering industries (ship & rig - buildings).
