Job summary

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (Gen. Org.) in Riyadh seeks an Infection Control professional to collaborate with the Infection Control team in executing the infection surveillance plan and epidemiologic activities across inpatient and ambulatory care units.

The role requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing, Laboratory Science or related Public Health field, with 2 years (Master’s) or 4 years (Bachelor’s) in infection control. Current licensure is required; comm.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Laboratory Science or related field in Infectious Diseases/Public Health is required.
• Two years of Infectious Control experience with a Master's degree or four years with a Bachelor's degree is required.
• Current licensure from country of origin is required.
• Experience in Communicable Diseases or Nursing/Microbiology Laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to surveillance of infections based on the Infection Control Surveillance Plan for assigned units.
• Integrates clinical findings, directs patient observations, laboratory results and diagnostic tests to determine infections per CDC/NHSN criteria.
• Inputs and maintains accurate data in the Infection Control database.
• Performs basic epidemiological investigations and analyzes data to identify trends, risk factors and improvement opportunities.
• Performs clinical responsibilities within related specialties as assigned (Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, Pharmacy, etc.).
• Documents diseases that must be reported to the Ministry of Health and submits reports.
• Recommend and initiate isolation precautions for known or suspected infections and discontinue precautions as indicated.
• Provides follow-up for employees with unprotected exposure to reportable diseases.
• Collaborates with Infection Control and stakeholders on environment of care and risk management actions.
• Ensures JCIA standards are met.
