Position Summary

The HYCO Steam Methane Reformer Shift Operator is accountable for the day‑to‑day operation of the HYCO facility, ensuring production requirements set by the customer are achieved safely and efficiently.

Principal Accountabilities

• Maintain a safe work environment; demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent all injuries.
• Operate the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer, CO2 recovery units and ancillary equipment, following Work Instruction Procedures.
• Operate the pipeline network to supply hydrogen, steam, and CO2 to customers safely and efficiently.
• Provide operations support and guidance during plant commissioning.
• Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
• Provide operational solutions for shortfall areas and report shift production progress to the Shift Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with process safety, MOCs and OPHR requirements; use APQ Basic Safety Practice program.
• Assist in commissioning activities, follow Site Work Instruction Manuals, and maintain compliance with contractual requirements.
• Support maintenance and engineering teams in preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities, including planning during shut‑downs.
• Participate in investigations and root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
• Maintain customer communications and relationships at the board level.
• Execute other duties as assigned by reporting managers.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Chemical Process Operations preferred; an Associate Technical Degree considered based on experience.
• Minimum of 5 years plant operations experience, with knowledge of hydrogen/SMR/acid gas removal units production plant.
• Experience in process plant operation, demonstrated plant operations, and production plant knowledge a plus.
• Knowledge of local environmental, health and safety requirements.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
• Excellent communication with operations, maintenance teams and customers; proficiency in English speaking and writing.
