Job summary

WSP Middle East is seeking an HSE Advisor for an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project in Jeddah, KSA. The role focuses on leading Health, Safety & Environment efforts to safeguard personnel and meet client requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree, NEBOSH or equivalent certification, and proven HSE leadership experience in construction or engineering, with strong communication and a command of English (Arabic a bonus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in health & safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the Middle East.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Fluent in English; Arabic knowledge is an advantage.
• SCE in Health & Safety domain.

Responsibilities

• Manage health, safety and environmental arrangements for the project per WSP HSEQ System requirements.
• Supervise HSE Inspectors to ensure compliance with legal and client requirements.
• Deliver health, safety and environmental training to WSP employees, including induction.
• Review and approve contractor HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Plan daily site visits to verify HSE measures are in place before works begin.
• Conduct weekly joint HSE inspections and close out corrective actions.
• Organise HSE meetings with clients, staff and contractors.
• Initiate and test emergency response plans and drills.
• Ensure incident investigations are followed up and corrective actions closed out.
• Carry out regular site safety reviews.

WSP Middle East is looking for an HSE Advisor for an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project in Jeddah KSA.

Responsibilities

• Manage the health, safety and environmental arrangements for the project against the WSP HSEQ Management System requirements, to ensure the protection of our people.
• Manage HSE Inspectors to ensure they are monitoring the implementation of health and safety arrangements at project site level, in accordance with legal and client requirements.
• Develop and deliver health, safety and environmental training to WSP employees including but not limited to; induction, safe working practices.
• Review and approve contractor’s health, safety and environmental plans, risk assessments and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to the work being carried out.
• Plan daily morning site visits across project sites to ensure health and safety measures are in place before works begins.
• Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel and ensure all the corrective/preventive actions are closed out.
• Organise HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
• Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure the drills are carried out as per the project schedule and performance standards.
• Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports are completed and corrective actions are identified and closed out to prevent a recurrence and provide necessary technical guidance for accident protection.
• Conduct regular site safely reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the Middle East region.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Should hold SCE in Health & Safety domain.
