Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced HSE Lead to oversee health, safety, and environmental performance across a major construction supervision project in the West of Riyadh. You will lead the site HSE function, work with the supervision team and contractors, and promote a proactive safety culture.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field, 20 years of construction experience, NEBOSH qualifications, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years' experience in construction projects, with significant exposure to large-scale infrastructure, buildings, or mixed-use developments.
• Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH International Diploma, NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi Arabian HSE regulations and international standards.
• Experience managing contractor safety performance within a consultant-led supervision environment.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead all Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the project.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE plans, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to identify hazards and verify compliance.
• Drive proactive safety initiatives and promote a positive safety culture among all project stakeholders.
• Review and approve contractor HSE documentation, including safety plans, emergency response plans, and inspection reports.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety campaigns, awareness programs, and HSE meetings.
• Track and report project HSE performance metrics, trends, and compliance statistics.
• Interface with clients, authorities, contractors, and project leadership on all HSE-related matters.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and ensure effective response procedures are maintained.
• Mentor and manage HSE officers and inspectors assigned to the project.

• Strong knowledge of Saudi Arabian HSE regulations and international standards.
• Experience managing contractor safety performance within a consultant-led supervision environment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
• Ability to influence safe behaviors and drive continuous improvement across large project teams.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
