Job summary

A leading maritime solutions company in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced cutting technician with a minimum of 12 years in the Offshore and Ship Construction industry. The ideal candidate will ensure project execution aligns with safety standards and technical specifications, using various cutting processes. Essential qualifications include a diploma or equivalent and technical certification. Strong communication skills in English are required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and collaborate with others.

Qualifications

  • At least 12 years’ experience in the Offshore and Ship Construction.
  • Understanding of cutting processes, nesting and production drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To work closely together with the shop manager and the team to ensure that all assigned projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget in accordance with the contract and International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS).
  • Ensure all assigned works are executed safely on time.
  • Ensure that all technical drawings and documentation, such as nesting drawing, production drawing and marking is followed.
  • Determining the appropriate cutting equipment or method based on requirements.
  • When engaging in any activity, ensure that you have a valid work permit (Hot/Cold/Isolation, etc.).
  • Attend safety and daily toolbox meetings and under the risk involved with the job.
  • Perform the cutting according to the operating manual and following the drawings.
  • Monitor materials usage to ensure possible shortages are identified and addressed at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Ability and follow cutting preparations and examine finished cutting and ensure they meet standards for excellence.
  • Inspect the equipment and tools they use while performing their job and maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Diploma degree or equivalent qualification (Cutting apprentice)
  • At least 12 years’ experience in the Offshore and Ship Construction, Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.
  • Technical Certification in the related field.
  • Familiar with the common cutting types: auto cutting, manual cutting and marking
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
  • Inspecting materials, cutting equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
  • Understanding of various cutting processes, nesting drawing, production drawing, as well as cutting and grinding and bending operations.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other departments and communicate results and concerns to the project management team.
  • Work under pressure and drive a team to completion against aggressive timelines and work scopes.
  • Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
