Job summary

Worley is seeking a Safety Engineer in Saudi Arabia to perform safety studies, review designs for hazards, and develop critical safety documentation across projects.

The role involves coordinating with process, mechanical, piping and civil teams, ensuring compliance with API, NFPA, IEC, ISO and OSHA standards, and supporting project reviews and startup activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required with relevant discipline.
  • 3–7 years of safety engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy or industrial sectors.
  • Experience on EPC, FEED or detailed engineering projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with API, NFPA, IEC, ISO, OSHA and local codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, Bow Tie, QRA) as required.
  • Review designs to identify hazards and recommend risk reductions.
  • Develop safety documentation including Safety Design Basis and EER studies.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil teams.
  • Ensure compliance with international codes and client specs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Support PSM initiatives and safety requirements in designs.
  • Assist in technical reports, calculations and documentation.
  • Contribute to client meetings and project reviews.
  • Support construction, commissioning and startup with safety guidance.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, Bow Tie Analysis, and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) as required.
  • Review engineering designs to identify potential hazards and recommend practical risk reduction measures.
  • Prepare and review fire protection and fire & gas detection philosophies and related engineering documentation.
  • Develop safety engineering deliverables such as Safety Design Basis, Hazardous Area Classification, Escape, Evacuation and Rescue (EER) studies, Firewater Demand Calculations, and Safety Equipment Layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with international codes, industry standards, company procedures, and client specifications.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, model reviews, and project risk assessments.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and ensure safety requirements are incorporated into engineering designs.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil engineering disciplines to resolve safety-related issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and project reviews.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities by providing technical safety engineering guidance when required.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering practices and safety performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Safety, or a related discipline).
  • Typically 3–7 years of experience in safety engineering within the oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience working on EPC, FEED, or detailed engineering projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management principles and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with international engineering codes and standards such as API, NFPA, IEC, ISO, OSHA, and relevant local regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities in a multidisciplinary project environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software relevant to safety studies.
