Job summary

MOZN is seeking a high-performance Software Engineering Manager to lead a dedicated team building and scaling Focal. Focus on reliability, innovation, and delivering impactful AI solutions for customers.

You will oversee design quality, mentor engineers, and drive hiring and development plans while advancing the software development process in a fast-growing enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• 10 years of software engineering experience, preferably SaaS or large-scale distributed applications.
• Previous team leadership experience.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical solutions to end-users and engineering teams.
• Ability to explain sophisticated issues in systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of engineers to design, develop and maintain product features.
• Ensure the code and design quality adhere to industry best practices and high standards.
• Coach and mentor team on high-level design, architecture, effort sizing, and testing practices.
• Provide engineers with feedback on day-to-day performance.
• Direct individual learning and development plans for team members.
• Initiate hiring and allocate resources to support the team.
• Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments.
• Oversee the software development process implementation.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineering Manager, your daily workload might include:

• Manage and mentor a team of engineers to design, develop and maintain product features
• Ensure the code and design quality are against the industry's best practices and highest standards
• Coach and mentor team members on high-level design, architecture, effort sizing, and testing practices
• Give engineers feedback on their day-to-day job performance
• Steer the engineers' individual learning and development plans
• Initiate hiring and the allocation of any resources needed to support the team
• Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments
• Oversee the implementation of the software development process

Qualifications

Our target profile is candidates with...

• BS/MS from a top school in Computer Science or any related field.
• 10 years of software engineering experience, preferably in SaaS or large-scale distributed applications
• Previous team leadership experience
• Solid communication skills and the ability to convey technical solutions to the end-user and the engineering team.
  Ability to briefly explain sophisticated issues in systems and processes
• Solid experience of multiple programming languages with a demonstrated drive to learn and progress in the technical skill and nuanced art of development.
• Proficient understanding of system design and distributed computing principles.
  Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, and MongoDB
• Solid understanding of the Scrum agile framework and other software development processes
