Job summary

Air Products is seeking an experienced Site EH&S Supervisor to manage safety and environmental concerns for a 380kV Substation, underground cable, and OHTL project. You will lead on-site safety programs, mentor contractors, and ensure rigorous compliance with Air Products standards and local laws.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or EHS, NEBOSH IGC, 10+ years of EH&S experience on similar projects, and the ability to travel to remote sites in Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental, Health and Safety or any relevant field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent is a mandatory requirement.
• At least ten (10) years of EH&S experience in substation and OHTL transmission line projects.
• Strong understanding of environmental, occupational health and safety codes, standards, and regulations in power transmission projects.
• Experience with incident investigations and leading safety on large projects.
• Excellent supervisory skills and the ability to lead a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with contractors.
• Willingness to work long hours and travel to remote project sites.

Responsibilities

• Support the full implementation of the project EH&S Plan.
• Promote a Total Safety Culture and support leadership activities.
• Coach EH&S team members and Contractors.
• Support Contractors’ HAZID process.
• Support the Project Emergency Response Plan implementation.
• Ensure EH&S risks are assessed and mitigated.
• Coordinate inspections and audits in the accountable area.
• Ensure safety equipment is inspected and color coded.
• Support Permit to Work process and LOTO compliance.
• Ensure all permits are completed and implemented at site.
• Review subcontractor safety programs and monitor ongoing compliance.
• Provide EH&S expertise to the site team and ensure compliance with Air Products standards and local laws.
• Coordinate safety training for contractor organizations.
• Lead safety promotion events and programs.
• Prioritize and coordinate unforeseen issues at site with EH&S leads.
• Review Job Safety Analyses to ensure risk mitigation.
• Attend Contractor TBTs and Pre-Task Safety Talks.
• Conduct regular safety dialogues and PTW/JSA reviews.
• Contribute to EH&S reporting and immediate incident notification.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Site EH&S Supervisor to join our team, who can manage the safety and environmental concerns of our 380kV Substation, 380kv underground cable and 380kV OHTL Project. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in EH&S, particularly in managing substation and OHTL transmission lines. The candidate should have excellent leadership skills to manage the project site by himself and should be competent in managing emergencies at the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the full implementation of the project EH&S Plan
• Actively promote the development of a ‘Total Safety Culture’ and provide support during the implementation of all related (leadership) activities
• Act as a coach, both for EH&S team members and for Contractors
• Support the Contractors’ HAZID process
• Support the implementation of the Project Emergency Response Plan
• Ensure EH&S Risks have been assessed and risk mitigation measures are in place
• Assist project team in identifying project safety concerns
• Coordinate a program of inspections and audits in accountable area
• Ensure safety equipment is regularly inspected, fully operational and color coded
• Support the implementation of the Permit to Work process
• Monitor adherence to the LOTO work process, specifically that the LOTO is adequate and installed correctly
• Ensure all permits are adequately completed and fully implemented at site.
• Ensuring (sub)contractors’ safety programs and safe work practices are reviewed, and monitored on an ongoing basis
• Ensuring EH&S information/expertise is provided to the site team when solicited to ensure compliance to Air Products standards and local laws
• Coordinate safety training as required for the Contractor organizations
• Actively participating in and leading safety promotion events, campaigns, competitions, established programs
• Providing leadership to ensure prompt prioritization and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, escalating to the Air Products EH&S Lead or Manager as required
• Review JSA’s developed by the Contractor to ensure all risks are mitigated
• Attend Contractor TBT’s and Pre-Task Safety Talks and provide input where applicable
• Perform regular safety dialogues and formal PTW/JSA reviews
• Give input to ensure the accurate completion of the EH&S reports
• Ensure all incidents are reported immediately to the Area Construction Manager and EH&S Area Lead
• Act as a member of the Site Emergency Response Team as required

Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental, Health and Safety or any relevant field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent is a mandatory requirement
• The candidate must be well-versed and must have at least ten (10) years of experience handling EH&S issues in the substation and OHTL transmission line projects
• Must possess a deep understanding of codes, standards, and regulations concerning environmental protection, occupational health, and safety, particularly in power transmission and distribution projects.
• Must have a deep understanding on the incident investigations,
• Excellent supervisory skills
• Being a good team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be flexible enough to work long hours and travel to remote areas to oversee the project site.
• Experience in KSA would be an added advantage.
• KSA/International Driving license is a must for this position
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Physically fit and able to spend a large proportion of the day on site
