Communications and Network Administrator NAC#061125

The Communications and Network Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Alfaisal University’s network and communication systems to ensure reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and data security. This role oversees network configuration, troubleshooting, and system upgrades, while supporting communication platforms such as email and VoIP. The administrator works closely with the IT team and vendors to ensure seamless operations, implement security protocols, maintain network documentation, and provide technical support and guidance to staff.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages, monitors, and maintains network systems to ensure reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and uninterrupted access to digital resources across the university.
  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots network hardware and software to maintain smooth operations, minimize downtime, and quickly resolve technical issues.
  • Administers and supports communication tools such as email servers, VoIP, and collaboration platforms to enable seamless, efficient communication for staff and students.
  • Implements and maintains network security protocols, firewalls, and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Monitors network traffic and system performance to proactively detect issues, prevent bottlenecks, and ensure continuous, high‑quality connectivity.
  • Maintains work relationships with vendors by evaluating and recommending solutions that support system upgrades, development, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Coordinates with vendors and service providers for timely system enhancements, repairs, and technical support to ensure reliable and up‑to‑date infrastructure.
  • Provides technical support and training to staff to improve user proficiency, reduce errors, and enable effective use of network and communication systems.
  • Assists in planning and implementing network expansion, modernization, and cybersecurity initiatives to support institutional growth and strengthen IT infrastructure resilience.
  • Maintains expertise in networking protocols, hardware configuration, and operating systems to optimize infrastructure performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement best practices.
  • Keeps current with technical knowledge, business methodologies, and industry trends through courses, self‑training, and professional development to enhance network administration capabilities.
  • Maintains accurate network documentation and procedures to enhance troubleshooting efficiency and compliance readiness.
  • Support IT asset budgeting, procurement, and inventory control to ensure cost‑effective resource management.
  • Performs all duties in a professional, confidential manner.
  • Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, computer Networking or equivalent from an accredited institute.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certifications. (Desirable).
  • Minimum of four (04) years’ experience in network administration organizations or other related fields.
