The CAD Operator is responsible for creating, modifying, and managing technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role supports architects, engineers, and designers by translating concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate digital drawings used for construction, manufacturing, or presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D and/or 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, SketchUp)
• Revise and update drawings based on redlines, feedback, and design changes
• Ensure drawings comply with project standards, codes, and specifications
• Maintain organized CAD files, layers, and drawing templates
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project teams to clarify design intent
• Perform basic quantity take-offs or measurements when required
• Assist in preparing drawings for permit, construction, or fabrication
• Follow company drafting standards and best practices
• Archive and manage drawing revisions and documentation

Qualifications

• Diploma or associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience as a CAD Operator or Draftsperson
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD required; Revit/BIM a plus)
• Strong understanding of technical drawings, scales, and dimensions
• Knowledge of drafting standards and basic building codes
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
