Manpower Resources India (P) Limited, a leading executive search firm, has been mandated by a large conglomerate in Electronics manufacturing to appoint an AM (Shift In-Charge) – Central Crane Maintenance – Electrical in Saudi Arabia.

The role oversees electrical maintenance of EOT/Overhead/Gantry cranes, troubleshooting, safety interlocks, PLC/drive systems, preventive and breakdown analysis, team leadership, and spare parts planning to maximize crane availability.

Qualifications

• Diploma / BE / BTech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in crane electrical maintenance.
• Experience with EOT/Overhead/Gantry cranes and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Shift Electrical Maintenance: supervise electrical maintenance of cranes to maximize availability.
• Crane Electrical System Maintenance: troubleshoot motors, drives, control panels and safety systems.
• PLC, Drives & Automation: diagnose PLC/drive faults and coordinate with automation teams.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: execute schedules and inspect motors, panels, cables, and protection systems.
• Breakdown Analysis & Reliability: perform RCA and implement corrective actions to improve MTBF and MTTR.
• Crane Safety Systems: ensure proper safety interlocks, E-stops, testing and LOTO compliance.
• Team Management: lead technicians, allocate manpower, and ensure proper handovers.
• Maintenance Planning & Spares: monitor critical spares and coordinate downtime and stores.

Job Title: AM(Shift Incharge) Central Crane Maintenance - Electrical

Qualification : Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Position Summary

The AM (Shift In-Charge) – Central Crane Maintenance – Electrical will be responsible for the electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability and availability of cranes and material-handling equipment across the steel plant. .

Key Responsibilities

1. Shift Electrical Maintenance

• Supervise electrical maintenance activities of EOT/Overhead Cranes, Gantry/Goliath Cranes, Ladle Cranes, Charging Cranes and other material-handling equipment.
• Ensure maximum crane availability and minimum electrical breakdown hours.
• Attend and troubleshoot electrical breakdowns during the shift.
• Allocate manpower and maintenance jobs based on equipment criticality.

2. Crane Electrical System Maintenance

• Troubleshoot and maintain crane motors, drives, control panels, contactors, relays, PLCs, sensors and electrical protection systems.
• Handle electrical maintenance of:
• Hoisting mechanism
• Long-travel mechanism
• Cross-travel mechanism
• Crane control systems
• Limit switches and proximity sensors
• Pendant / radio remote control systems
• Power supply and conductor systems
• Cable reels and festoon systems
• Slip rings and collectors
• Maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC motors, VFDs, soft starters and motor control circuits.
• Ensure proper functioning of electrical interlocks and safety circuits.

3. PLC, Drives & Automation

• Troubleshoot crane PLC-based control systems and identify I/O, communication and control-related faults.
• Work with VFD/drive systems for hoisting, travelling and auxiliary crane movements.
• Diagnose drive faults, overcurrent, overload, overvoltage, encoder and communication failures.
• Troubleshoot PLC I/O modules, sensors, encoders, limit switches and proximity switches.
• Coordinate with automation/instrumentation teams for complex PLC and communication issues.
• Maintain crane control logic and electrical parameters as per OEM specifications.

4. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules for crane electrical equipment.
• Conduct inspection of motors, panels, drives, cables, busbars, collectors, brakes and control circuits.
• Check insulation resistance, earthing, current, voltage, temperature and other electrical parameters.
• Monitor electrical equipment health and identify potential failures before breakdown.
• Maintain preventive-maintenance records and equipment history.
• Ensure timely replacement of critical electrical components.

5. Breakdown Analysis & Reliability

• Attend critical crane electrical breakdowns immediately to minimize production loss.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repetitive and major electrical failures.
• Identify recurring faults in motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, control panels and power-supply systems.
• Develop corrective and preventive actions to improve crane reliability.
• Monitor MTBF, MTTR, breakdown frequency and equipment availability.

6. Crane Safety Systems

• Ensure proper functioning of all crane electrical safety systems and interlocks.
• Inspect and maintain emergency stop circuits, overload protection, limit switches, anti-collision systems and warning systems.
• Ensure proper implementation of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) before electrical maintenance.
• Ensure electrical isolation and discharge procedures are followed before working on equipment.
• Ensure compliance with plant electrical safety procedures and statutory requirements.

7. Team Management

• Lead Electrical Technicians, Electricians and contract maintenance personnel during the shift.
• Allocate manpower according to breakdown priority and equipment criticality.
• Guide technicians in electrical fault finding and troubleshooting.
• Conduct oolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Ensure proper shift handover, reporting and communication.
• Develop technical capability of the maintenance team.

8. Maintenance Planning & Spares

• Identify and monitor critical electrical spares for cranes.
• Ensure availability of VFDs, contactors, relays, PLC modules, sensors, encoders, motors, cables, fuses, breakers and control components.
• Coordinate with Stores/Purchase for timely availability of critical spares.
• Maintain minimum stock levels for critical crane electrical components.
• Support shutdown and major maintenance activities.
