About Coconat

Coconat is one of Germany’s leading workation destinations and a pioneer in rural innovation. Since 2017, we’ve brought together freelancers, remote teams, social entrepreneurs, and creatives from around the world to live, work, and grow — in the middle of nature.

Located just outside Berlin in Brandenburg, we run a 20-room hotel/coliving and coworking retreat, currently with full board and flexible workspaces. We’re also home to the Flämingo Startup Hub, a major state-funded entrepreneurship accelerator, helping startups thrive in rural areas.

As we evolve, we’re looking for a hands-on, thoughtful General Manager to guide our hospitality operations into a more streamlined, financially sustainable future — while maintaining the warmth and simplicity that makes Coconat so special.

Your Mission

As General Manager – Hospitality & Operations, you’ll lead and refine the day-to-day systems that power our hospitality operations: accommodation, coworking, cleaning, and food.

You’ll ensure that Coconat’s services are simple, joyful, and high-quality —stream-lining staffing time without losing quality, improving financial performance, and helping our international team work together as one. This is a unique leadership role in a mission-driven environment, where hospitality meets social innovation and startup culture.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accommodation, coworking, cleaning, and Food & Beverage
  • Ensure smooth kitchen operations — no menu planning or ordering, but strong system oversight.
  • Work with the Cleaning Team Manager to simplify cleaning schedules and standards.
  • Keep all services aligned with our sustainability concept
  • Serve as HR lead for the hospitality and service team.
  • Ensure teams self-organize their own schedules and arrange cover for shifts.
  • Review staff hours monthly, following up with anyone over/under by more than 10 hours.
  • Set and communicate blackout dates for vacation planning.
  • Build a collaborative culture across kitchen, cleaning, maintenance, and garden teams.
  • Take ownership of our Property Management System (PMS) and related tools.
  • Lead the shift toward leaner operations:
    • Introduce/refine digital check-in
    • Stream-lining staffing time without losing quality
    • Lower food and operational costs
  • Document and improve internal processes across the board.
  • Work directly with the founders to align operations with budget goals.
  • Bring ideas to support Coconat’s continued growth as a flagship for rural innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Flämingo Startup Hub team to align hospitality services with the needs of visiting entrepreneurs, startup teams, and residency participants.

Who You Are

  • You have experience managing hotel, hostel, or guesthouse operations — ideally in a small, independent, or community-focused setting.
  • You are committed to the team and will be on-site (some flexibility possible)
  • You’re structured, calm, and confident — able to lead with clarity and kindness.
  • You understand hospitality, but also want to make it better and leaner.
  • You’re fluent in German and English.
  • You’re excited by systems, people, processes — and ready to own your role.
  • Bonus if you’ve worked in:
    • Coworking / coliving
    • Sustainable tourism
    • Social enterprise or startup support

What We Offer

  • A leadership position at one of Germany’s most recognized workation and coliving spaces
  • A chance to be a part of Flämingo Startup Hub, supporting entrepreneurship in Brandenburg
  • A collaborative, purpose-driven international work environment
  • Additional support for your personal and professional development.
  • A beautiful rural location with a strong community of makers, thinkers, and changemakers
  • Fair pay within a purpose-driven organization
