Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide legal support to JD’s operations in Germany, with a primary focus on retail‑related matters, and additional support for logistics activities as needed. You will be part of the broader international legal team and work cross‑functionally with business units to ensure legal compliance and enable business growth.

  • Provide legal advice on retail operations, commercial agreements, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance in Germany.
  • Support legal aspects of logistics, including warehousing and transportation contracts, where applicable.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and operational contracts in German, and communicate effectively in English or Chinese as a secondary language.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and mitigation strategies to support the business in a legally sound manner.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Germany that may affect JD’s operations, and communicate relevant updates to internal teams.
  • Collaborate with external counsel as needed on local matters, including dispute resolution.
  • Contribute to internal legal projects and cross‑border initiatives in coordination with the broader JD legal team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of post‑qualification legal experience, preferably in the retail sector. Experience with logistics, supply chain, or e‑commerce is a plus.
  • Fluent in German, with strong legal writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in English or Chinese as a secondary working language.
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Detail‑oriented, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Based in Düsseldorf, with occasional travel within Europe as needed.
