Definition VIE

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment. It is open to Airbus, offering young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28, who are citizens of the European Union (all EU nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein).

Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on‑site test airfield.

About the Team

The Digital Innovation (DI) team is part of the Company Transformation Department working to develop technologies bridging the gap between research and business. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across Airbus Group and throughout all internal customers whether they are manufacturing, quality, support, finance, engineering, human resources or sales and marketing.

Our team aims at using the latest technological capabilities to solve Airbus Business problems or improve the way we design, produce and support our Helicopters and Services. That means that Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed reality and IoT are everyday technologies we leverage.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the business functions in their Artificial Intelligence Projects
  • Collaborate to industrialise, monitor, and improve our data science models
  • Be part of the Data Science community

You will translate real‑world problems expressed by the business into an appropriate quantitative context, source data, and develop models that solve these issues. The goal is to combine innovative skills in statistics, machine learning, deep learning, and computer science to reduce production costs, improve lead‑time and quality of products and services, and more.

As DI is transverse you’ll work on a wide range of use cases (e.g. predictive maintenance, forecast, planning, NLP classification and agent, picture defect detection, statistical process control, optimization), input data (e.g. tabular, time series, text, images, videos or sounds) and various stakeholders. Facilitating the proper progress of the projects you are working on will be an additional key role.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree in artificial intelligence, statistics, or applied mathematics
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques in Python
  • Some ML Ops knowledge or experience
  • Some experience in data preparation/cleansing, data analysis
  • Some knowledge on agile project management
  • English level: fluent or negotiation level; German a plus
  • Dynamic and curious, autonomous, customer‑oriented, team player
  • Rigorous, analytical and creative mind
