Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer

Black Forest Labs is a cutting‑edge startup pioneering generative image and video models. Our team, which invented Stable Diffusion and FLUX, is looking for a Forward Deployed MLE to bring our core offerings to critical customers.

The Role

  • Help customers set up FLUX models in their services and ensure optimal latency and output quality for on‑premise and BFL‑hosted integrations.
  • Design and implement deep product integrations, model hosting, finetuning, deployment and inference optimization.
  • Customize foundation models for visual media for customer‑specific use cases.
  • Meet with customers to identify gaps and pain points, assess their needs, and help them decide between BFL‑hosted and on‑premise deployments.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify relevant use cases and find innovative solutions.
  • Identify expansion potentials for BFL’s technologies into new industry sectors worldwide.

Ideal experiences

  • Direct customer interaction, iterating solutions and providing tailored support for generative AI models.
  • Hands‑on finetuning, optimizing and serving deep learning models.
  • Proven track record in machine learning engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python and API integrations to implement basic functionality and help customers prototyping/demo building.
  • Experience explaining sophisticated technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of diffusion models and finetuning/distillation techniques.
  • Experience with FLUX ecosystem tooling such as ComfyUI and trainer frameworks.
  • Inference optimizations for transformer‑based models.
  • Architecting solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Contributions to open‑source diffusion model projects.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and state‑of‑the‑art deployment solutions.
