Head of Supply Chain Optimisation | Hamburg | $15bn Revenue | Energy

AI Futures have been exclusively retained to find a Head of Supply Chain Optimisation for a global energy and trading powerhouse headquartered in Hamburg. With €15bn in revenues, strong profitability, and a bold growth agenda, the company is undergoing a major transformation of its global supply chain and logistics capabilities putting digitalisation, data, and optimisation at the core of its strategy. The CEO is personally overseeing the growth of this new business unit as this position will significantly impact the top and bottom line.

This is a career-defining leadership opportunity to shape the future of supply chain performance in a company with real scale and ambition. You will be the senior business expert responsible for unlocking commercial value by optimising our global network of assets, logistics, and supply agreements.

The Role

  • Develop and own the global strategy for maximising the value of our supply chain, focusing on the supply optimisation of our asset portfolio (including storage tanks), logistics fleet, and term contracts.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of business analysts and subject matter experts, focused on delivering actionable insights and driving measurable financial improvement across the value chain.
  • Spearhead the adoption of advanced tools (such as digital twins and simulation models) to empower the business with superior scenario planning and risk assessment for critical decisions.
  • Act as the key strategic interface between Trading, Commercial, and Data & Analytics teams, ensuring the value chain capabilities are aligned with driving commercial goals.
  • Report directly into the senior executive leadership team and play a critical role in strategic decision-making.

The Candidate

  • A proven business leader with experience in supply optimisation, asset monetisation, and logistics management within global organisations.
  • Deep understanding of the commercial drivers in trading, logistics, and physical operations, ideally within energy, commodities, or bulk shipping.
  • Expertise in optimisation methodologies to solve complex business problems, such as fleet utilisation, storage strategy, and demand-supply balancing.
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and implementing large-scale business improvement programs with a clear P&L impact.
  • Familiarity with tools like digital twins is highly valued
  • Fluency in English is essential. German is a strong advantage.
