Senior Principal Scientist Process Chemistry (m/f/d) – Bayer, Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Responsibilities
- Lead API development, industrialization, and life cycle management activities across the value chain
- Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders across product supply to develop manufacturing and life cycle management strategies
- Provide scientific input and guidance to product teams and engage within CMC community to maintain and expand skills in API development
- Define future technical and regulatory strategies and concepts as representative for Drug Substance Small Molecules in cross-functional teams
- Initiate and engage in cross-functional best practice initiatives (e.g. transfers, life cycle management)
- Develop and optimize chemical processes for small molecules and synthetic modalities
- Evaluate and apply new chemical technologies and methods to ensure competitiveness
- Guide laboratory teams ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental procedures, results, and protocols
- Present findings and progress updates to internal stakeholders and at external conferences

Qualifications
- Hold a PhD in organic chemistry or a related discipline with profound expertise in industrial process chemistry and chemical API development
- Significant submission, supply, and launch experience for chemical APIs
- Excellent knowledge of classical small molecules or new modalities and experience with external collaborations
- Profound understanding of key value drivers for API industrialization
- Strategic thinker with the ability to evaluate multiple options and integrate stakeholder perspectives
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build trustful relationships and motivate team members
- Excellent presentation and communication skills across multiple levels within and outside the organization
- Fluent in German and English, both verbal and written
