General Manager

Hartmann Young is partnered with an established diagnostics company. We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Leipzig site, responsible for day‑to‑day operations, production lines, logistics, quality control, regulatory affairs and HR/Administrative functions.

This role offers the chance to drive growth and transformation, modernising and digitalising our operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness. As a hands‑on leader, you will work closely with senior leadership to enhance back‑office functions, instil operational excellence and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will grow and shape the business as you build the next chapter for the site.

The role

• Lead daily operations of the Leipzig site, overseeing production, logistics, quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve operational efficiency and drive performance.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including time to production, scrap rates, inventory levels, working capital and demand planning.
• Champion digital transformation initiatives, such as automating processes and exploring AI solutions for forecasting and production.
• Inspire and motivate the team to achieve high standards in all areas, maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Take a hands‑on approach, rolling up your sleeves to tackle challenges and drive improvements across the site.

The person

• Proven experience in the biotech, diagnostics or technology sectors, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance.
• A track record of leading and modernising operations in a larger organisation, and the ambition to build and innovate in a smaller, agile environment.
• Respected leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams and drive change within the business.
• Expertise in managing production sites, implementing lean strategies and improving operational efficiencies.
• Deep understanding of production and supply‑chain challenges in regulated industries.
• Hands‑on, solutions‑focused approach and willingness to lead from the front.
• Fluency in German and English; good understanding of local culture and working practices.
