Quality Control Leader (f,m,d)This full time position will be located in Stade (greater Hamburg area).
Job description:As the Quality Control Leader at our Stade/Bomlitz sites, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our quality control laboratories. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, your primary focus will be to maintain compliance, deliver on time robust results while adhering to corporate standards.
Key Role Responsibilities:Safety:Champion a culture of safety within the QC laboratories
Operational Management:Oversee and coordinate all laboratory activities, ensuring efficient and timely quality control of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products
Team Supervision:Directly manage the Stade Lab Team (incl. performance management), fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
Compliance Standards:Ensure adherence to global analytical methods and procedures, including relevant monographs (e.g., USP, EP) and standards (e.g., EXCiPACT GMP, FSSC 22000)
Laboratory Practices:Enforce exemplary laboratory practices to maintain safe and reliable operations
Analytical Processes:Perform analyses for batch release and individual testing requests; evaluate and release analytical data
LIMS Management:Administer the local Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) instance
Equipment Strategy:Develop and uphold a strategic approach to analytical equipment management, ensuring compliance and timely calibration
Project Management:Lead local QC projects, focusing on methods validation and process improvements
Supply Chain Coordination:Manage chemicals and laboratory equipment orders, ensuring adequate stock for seamless operations
Financial Oversight:Oversee service contracts and laboratory-related expenses
Procedure Development:Create, review, and implement laboratory procedures to enhance operational efficiency
Root Cause Analysis:Lead investigations into laboratory-related issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives
Cross-functional Communication:Facilitate effective communication with production personnel, addressing in-process and finished product control needs
Stakeholder Relations:Serve as the primary contact for laboratory-related inquiries from the analytical group, quality unit, and other internal functions
Collaborative Engagement:Partner with other laboratories within the business group to share best practices and drive innovation
Training & Development:Coordinate and conduct training sessions for analytical technicians and operators, ensuring qualifications are up-to-date
Audit Participation:Engage in internal and external audits, demonstrating the laboratory’s commitment to excellence
Minimum requirement: State-certified chemical technician (Chemietechniker), bachelor/master’s degree in natural science (e. g. chemistry) preferred
Leadership competency and experience in managing a team, ideally in laboratory settings
Extensive experience in quality control within a production facility, preferably in the food or pharmaceutical sectors
Profound understanding of quality control processes and analytical methods (e.g., gas chromatography), ideally within the food or pharmaceutical industries
Knowledge of relevant quality control standards related to excipients and food additives (ISO 9001, EXCiPACT GMP/IPEC-PQG GMP, FSSC 22000) and experience with monographs
Proficiency in LIMS; SAP experience is advantageous
Strong mathematical and statistical skills
Ability to collaborate across functional and disciplinary boundaries
Fluency in both German and English
