Deltacrp is seeking a Welding Engineer in Qatar to serve as the primary technical authority for welding activities, developing and validating welding procedures to ensure compliance with international codes and client specifications. This role blends technical precision with production efficiency to deliver high-quality fabrication while pushing welding technology forward.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field (Master's is a plus).
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 certification or equivalent is advantageous.
  • 8-12 years in welding engineering within oil & gas, offshore/onshore, heavy fabrication, or cladding.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME IX, API 6A, AWS, ISO and related standards.
  • Experience with CRA/SDSS cladding, weld overlay, and automated GTAW Hot Wire welding.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical authority for welding and cladding processes (GTAW, Hot Wire GTAW, CRA, SDSS, DSS, Inconel).
  • Develop, review, qualify, and approve WPS, PQR, WPQT per codes and customer specs.
  • Select base metals, cladding alloys, welding consumables, gases, and equipment.
  • Lead welding and cladding activities across projects ensuring quality and safety.
  • Provide technical support during tendering, planning, execution, and risk assessments.
  • Drive productivity, consumables usage, and equipment performance to meet costs and schedules.
  • Support ERP-based planning, routing, and production reporting for welding operations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specs, ITPs, QCPs, and industry standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting and corrective/preventive actions for welding issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement for weld quality and deposition efficiency.
  • Mentor welding supervisors, team leaders, technicians, and operators.

The Welding Engineer acts as the primary technical authority for all welding activities, responsible for developing and validating welding procedures (WPS/PQR) to ensure total compliance with international codes and client specifications. This role integrates technical precision with production efficiency to deliver high-quality, defect-free fabrication while driving continuous improvement in welding technologies.

Key Responsibility
  • Act as the technical authority for all welding and cladding processes, including GTAW, Hot Wire GTAW, CRA, SDSS, DSS, Inconel, and other high-alloy materials.
  • Develop, review, qualify, and approve WPS, PQR, and WPQT in accordance with ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and customer specifications.
  • Select and approve base metals, cladding alloys, welding consumables, gases, and equipment, ensuring proper metallurgical compatibility and dilution control.
  • Lead and oversee all welding and cladding activities across projects, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and project requirements.
  • Provide technical support during tendering, project planning, execution, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
  • Optimize welding productivity, consumable utilization, and equipment performance to achieve cost and schedule objectives.
  • Support ERP-based planning, routing, and production reporting related to welding operations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, ITPs, QCPs, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for welding-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance weld quality, deposition efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Support the implementation of advanced welding technologies and process improvements.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to welding and cladding supervisors, team leaders, technicians, and operators.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC, Production, Maintenance, Planning, and HSE teams to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Support customer inspections, audits, and third-party surveillance activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree is an advantage).
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 certification or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • 8-12 years of experience in welding engineering within the Oil & Gas, offshore, onshore, heavy fabrication, or cladding industry.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section IX, API 6A, AWS, ISO, and related international standards.
  • Proven expertise in CRA/SDSS cladding, weld overlay, and automated GTAW Hot Wire welding processes.
  • Experience with welding automation systems, metallurgical analysis, and quality assurance is highly desirable.
