Job summary

Elegancia Steel is seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee welding operations in our structural steel fabrication facility in Qatar. The role focuses on managing welding activities, ensuring compliance with WPS, maintaining quality, and achieving production targets while promoting safety.

The candidate should hold a Diploma/ITI in Welding Technology, bring 6–12 years in structural steel fabrication with 3–5 years GCC supervisory experience, and possess strong knowledge of welding

Qualifications

• Diploma/ITI in Welding Technology or related field.
• 6–12 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Minimum 3–5 years GCC supervisory experience.
• Experience with GMAW, FCAW, SMAW and SAW welding processes.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX and related codes.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily and weekly welding activities in line with production schedules.
• Ensure all welding work is performed per approved WPS and project specs.
• Manage welding manpower, productivity, attendance, and overtime.
• Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, NDT, and Fabrication teams to meet objectives.
• Maintain welder qualification records and support certification/training.
• Monitor welding quality, investigate defects, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• Diploma/ITI in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-12 years of experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Minimum 3-5 years of GCC experience in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes including GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW.
• Proficient in reading fabrication drawings and interpreting welding symbols.
• Sound knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other applicable welding codes and standards.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor welding manpower, productivity, attendance, and overtime.
• Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, NDT, and Fabrication teams to achieve project objectives.
• Maintain welder qualification records and support certification and training programs.
• Monitor welding quality, investigate defects, and implement corrective actions to minimize rework.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and control of welding consumables and gases.
• Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Oversee maintenance and calibration of welding equipment.
• Prepare daily production reports, welding records, consumable reports, and progress updates.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and reducing waste.

Preferred Experience

• Heavy steel structures, industrial projects, pre-engineered buildings (PEB), oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.
• Managing welding operations in high-volume production environments.
