Job Description
- 1. Advanced Troubleshooting & Fault Isolation Perform deep-dive troubleshooting for: SIP call failures, call drops, one-way/no audio issues PRI/E1 link issues (LOS, LOF, slips, framing errors) SBC (Session Border Controller) issues Softswitch / IMS-related signaling failures Analyze: SIP call flows (INVITE, BYE, REGISTER, etc.) RTP media path issues (latency, jitter, packet loss) Identify problem domain: Core voice network Customer CPE / IP-PBXCarrier interconnect Access/backhaul network
- 2. Incident Resolution & Service Restoration Own and resolve P1/P2 incidents escalated by L1Drive restoration within defined MTTR targets Perform: Call flow tracing and log analysis SIP ladder analysis and debugging PRI circuit validation and diagnostics Lead troubleshooting during major voice outages
- 3. Protocol & Signaling Expertise Strong working knowledge of: SIP, RTP, RTCPISDN PRI (Q.931 signaling) VoIP codecs (G.711, G.729, etc.) Analyze: Registration issues Call routing misconfigurations Codec mismatch / negotiation issues
- 4. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Perform detailed RCA for: Call drops / failure spikes Recurring voice congestion Intermittent quality degradation Identify root causes such as: Network congestion / jitter Misconfiguration Routing / dial plan issues ISP/carrier-related faults Provide Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- 5. Change & Implementation Support Validate and support: Voice routing changes SIP trunk configuration updates PRI migrations / provisioning Softswitch / SBC upgrades Perform impact analysis, pre-checks, post-validation, and rollback planning
- 6. Vendor & Carrier Coordination Coordinate with: OEMs (Cisco, Avaya, Ribbon, Audiocodes, etc.) SIP/PRI carriers and service providers Handle TAC/vendor escalations Track resolution and ensure timely closure
- 7. Performance & Quality Management Monitor and analyze: Call success rate (ASR, ACD) Call quality KPIsPacket loss, jitter, latency Identify and resolve chronic voice quality issues Suggest optimization: QoS tuning Bandwidth optimization Routing improvements
- 8. L1 Support & Technical Governance Provide technical guidance to L1 team Validate L1 troubleshooting and escalations Enhance: SOPsKnowledge base articles Troubleshooting frameworks
- 9. Major Incident Management Lead bridge calls for critical outages Drive coordination across: Network teams Carriers Enterprise customers Ensure: Timely updates Impact assessment Quick restoration
Required Technical Skills
Core Voice Expertise
Strong knowledge of: VoIP / SIP / RTP protocols PRI / ISDN signaling IP Telephony & Call Control IMS / Softswitch architecture
Networking Knowledge
TCP/IP, subnetting, routing basics Understanding of: QoS (voice prioritization) MPLS/Internet transport impact on voice
Tools & Platforms
Experience with: NMS/EMS tools Packet capture tools (Wireshark preferred) CLI-based troubleshooting Ticketing tools (Service Now/Remedy),
