Role Objective
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and performing reconciliation activities related to card transactions and settlement accounts. The primary responsibility is to ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of transactions processed through various payment channels, card schemes, ATM/POS networks, digital wallets, and correspondent banking partners. The role requires investigating and resolving discrepancies, ensuring compliance with approved policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The incumbent will also support reconciliation automation initiatives, identify process improvements, and provide guidance to team members while ensuring accurate record maintenance and reporting.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform all reconciliation activities assigned by the Team Leader/Manager related to card operations, in compliance with Qatar Central Bank regulations, Doha Bank policies, and approved Card Processing procedures.
NAPS, Visa, Mastercard, China UnionPay (CUP), Apple Pay, ATM and POS Networks, International Settlement Banks and Correspondent Accounts
- Reconcile card scheme settlement files against internal systems, general ledger accounts, suspense accounts, nostro accounts, and switch system records.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks, unmatched transactions, rejected transactions, chargebacks, reversals, representments, settlement variances, and scheme adjustments within defined SLA timelines.
- Analyze incoming and outgoing settlement files and identify variances relating to issuer and acquirer transactions, fees, commissions, interchange, assessments, reimbursements, and scheme charges.
- Coordinate with Card Operations, Finance, IT, Digital Banking, Branches, and external payment schemes to resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items.
- Monitor aged reconciliation items and ensure timely closure through appropriate follow-up and escalation mechanisms.
- Review exception reports and reconciliation reports generated from card management systems, payment gateways, switch platforms, and scheme portals.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliation reports, management MIS, regulatory reports, and periodic dashboards highlighting outstanding exceptions, recovery actions, and operational risks.
- Validate and reconcile e-remittance, refunds, chargebacks, ATM disputes, merchant settlements, and digital wallet transactions against corresponding settlement accounts.
- Review customer account transactions where recoveries, adjustments, or reversals are required and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Ensure accurate posting and monitoring of reconciliation-related journal entries and coordinate with Finance for resolution of outstanding accounting entries.
- Participate in UAT testing, reconciliation process enhancements, automation initiatives, system upgrades, and new product implementations.
Educational Qualifications:
- University graduate with a degree in Business or Banking or Finance or any other related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Management any other related discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 05-08 years of total experience in financial services/banking industry with significant exposure to Cards Operations, Reconciliation, or Payment Operations.
- Strong experience in Card Scheme Reconciliation involving Visa, Mastercard, NAPS, CUP, Apple Pay, ATM/POS and settlement processes.
- Sound understanding of General Ledger reconciliation, Nostro reconciliation, suspense account monitoring, and settlement accounting.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, card scheme operating regulations, and banking operational controls.
- Experience in reconciliation automation projects, UAT testing, and process improvement initiatives will be an added advantage.
