Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of card issuing, acquiring, transaction processing, payment platforms, APIs, integration architectures, and banking systems.
• Ability to lead or support end-to-end system integrations including requirements gathering, design, testing, certification, implementation, migration and deployment.
• Excellent communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business language.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical SME across card issuing, acquiring, card processing, payment platforms, and banking technology environments.
• Translate technical requirements into solutions for banks and financial institutions.
• Support design, system integration, API/interface requirements, data flows, and technical architecture for card/payment initiatives.
• Lead or support end-to-end implementation activities including discovery, requirements, integration, testing, certification, migration, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, consulting and account teams to deliver sound solutions.
• Identify dependencies, risks, gaps, and mitigation plans and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

The Technical Card Systems Expert – Banking will play a critical role in supporting our banking and payment technology initiatives in Qatar, providing technical expertise across card processing, issuing, acquiring, and related payment systems. The role will work closely with our banking clients, technology partners, processors, and internal technical and product teams to ensure the effective design, integration, implementation, and optimisation of card and payment solutions.

The position will serve as a technical subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to clients, translating complex business and product requirements into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions. The successful candidate will support the full technology lifecycle, from requirements definition and solution architecture through integration, testing, implementation, production readiness, and ongoing optimisation. The individual will be expected to independently lead technical workstreams, identify and resolve integration challenges, assess technical risks, and provide practical recommendations that support successful client outcomes.

Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Provide technical subject-matter expertise across card issuing, acquiring, card processing, payment platforms, and banking technology environments.
• Work with banks and financial institutions to understand technical requirements and translate them into appropriate solutions.
• Support solution design, system integration, API/interface requirements, data flows, and technical architecture for card and payment initiatives.
• Lead or support end-to-end implementation activities, including technical discovery, requirements gathering, integration, testing, certification, migration, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, consulting, and account teams to deliver technically sound solutions.
• Identify technical dependencies, risks, gaps, and implementation challenges, and develop practical mitigation plans.
• Support client technology teams and third-party processors during integration and troubleshooting activities.

Knowledge and Experience

• Strong technical understanding of card issuing, acquiring, transaction processing, payment platforms, APIs, integration architectures, and banking systems, with practical experience within financial services or payments.
• The ability to lead or support end-to-end system integrations, including requirements gathering, solution design, API/interface specifications, testing, certification, implementation, migration, and production deployment.
• Strong analytical capability to diagnose complex technical issues, assess system dependencies and risks, and develop practical, scalable solutions in complex banking and payment environments.
• The ability to engage and influence senior banking, technology, product, vendor, and internal stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business language and actionable recommendations.

Mandatory Skills

• 8-10 years' hand-on experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Previous experience within Banking, Digital Payment & Card solutions, or the FinTech industry.
• Regional experience, including working in a faced-paced matrix organisation.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written, verbal, and presentation); Arabic preferred.

Preferred Skills

• The ability to analyse data, troubleshoot payment issues, optimize processes, and make data-driven decisions.
• Good understanding of payment systems, digital platforms, system workflows, security basics, and industry technologies.
• An understanding of regional regulations across financial services or payment networks.
