Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer - Substation for a short-term assignment in Doha. You will oversee planning, design, construction, testing and commissioning of GIS substations from 132kV to 400kV, coordinating with internal and external teams to meet client requirements and industry standards.

You will lead reviews of drawings and specs, supervise installation and testing, ensure safety compliance, and prepare as-built documentation while staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• PE license preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years in electrical engineering focused on transmission substations (132kV–400kV).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and related tools.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment and components in substations.
• Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning of GIS substation projects from 132kV to 400kV.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align plans with client requirements and standards.
• Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure equipment and services.
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring safety.
• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks on installations.
• Address technical issues and provide guidance to project teams and clients.
• Prepare progress reports and as-built drawings for client review.
