Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Electrical Engineer- Substation to lead planning, design, construction, testing and commissioning of GIS substations from 132kV to 400kV. You will coordinate with internal teams and clients, review drawings, supervise installation, and ensure safety and quality while delivering boundary projects worldwide.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; PE license preferred.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of electrical systems for transmission GIS substations from 132kV to 400kV.
• Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, budgets.
• Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to the substation.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to procure equipment and services.
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Conduct site inspections and QA checks on installations.

As an Electrical Engineer- Substation, you will be managing and coordinating the planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems for transmission GIS substation projects from 132kV to 400kV level.

• Oversee all aspects of electrical systems for transmission GIS substation from 132kV to 400kV level projects, from construction to commissioning stage. Experiences in GIS Switchgear, SS equipment installation, Control Protection, Telecommunication, Pre-commissioning Testing, LDC integration & Commissioning of plant.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.

• Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to the substation.

• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure equipment, materials, and services necessary for project execution.

• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.

• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify the integrity and performance of electrical installations.

• Address technical issues and resolve challenges encountered during the construction and operation phases of projects.

• Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, subcontractors, and clients as needed.

• Prepare comprehensive progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.

• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical engineering, and substations.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on both transmission substations from 132kV to 400kV level projects.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and other relevant engineering tools.

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components used in substations.

• Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination for both substations.
