Job description

We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Qatar. The individual must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years experience and hold an Engineering degree, BEng or MEng.

Site based Senior Structural Engineer on a large Middle Eastern construction project.

Part of a team responsible for acting as Guardian of the Design Intent on a project designed by Buro Happold engineers in the UK.

Responsible for responding to design related questions raised by the Supervision Consultants and the Project Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Being the Senior Structural Engineer on the project and reporting to BH Project Director.
• Advise BH Project Director of any technical aspects of the Structural works that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
• Respond to Requests for Information raised by the contractor in relation to the information issued for construction and ensure that information from the design engineers is incorporated.
• Review Contractor’s Structural shop drawings, method statements and material submittals against the contract drawings for compliance where issues associated with the design intent are being questioned.
• Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the Structural works for Contractor’s adherence to the design intent in drawings and specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
• Provide advice to the BH Project Director in regard to any Structural services related variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.
• Minimum requirement of HND level education.
• Minimum 5 years experience.
• Ideally bachelor's degree in Engineering (BEng) or Masters degree in Engineering (MEng).
• Significant relevant experience on site, ideally on large scale projects in the Middle East.
• Mixed-use experience is highly desirable.
