Job summary

UCC Holding in Qatar seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead major upstream oil and gas projects from concept through execution, commissioning and handover. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, align schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with HSE and regulatory standards.

The role requires 15+ years in project management with at least 10 years in upstream projects, extensive EPC/EPCM experience, and strong contractual acumen.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • 15+ years of overall project management experience.
  • 10+ years of upstream oil & gas project experience mandatory.
  • Experience managing USD 100M+ projects preferred.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading and delivering major upstream oil & gas projects from concept development through execution, commissioning, and handover. The role requires extensive experience managing EPC/EPCM projects within upstream facilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of upstream oil & gas projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations personnel.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and HSE performance.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, procurement strategies, and construction plans.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage project reporting, progress reviews, and executive presentations.
  • Ensure effective contract administration and change management.
  • Support project commissioning, startup, and handover activities.
Mandatory Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline).
  • Master's Degree or PMP certification is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 15+ years of overall project management experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Upstream Oil & Gas projects (Mandatory).
  • Proven experience managing large-scale upstream facilities such as:
  • Oil & Gas Gathering Stations
  • Well Pads
  • Flowlines
  • Production Facilities
  • Early Production Facilities (EPF)
  • Central Processing Facilities (CPF)
  • Gas Processing Facilities
  • Brownfield and Greenfield Upstream Developments
  • Experience managing projects valued at USD 100M+ is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas operations and facilities.
  • Familiarity with project controls, cost management, planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of international standards, HSE requirements, and quality management systems.
  • Experience with contract management and claims management.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management.
  • Strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred
  • PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience with ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, KOC, PDO, or similar operators.
