Job summary

Fircroft is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer in Qatar to design wells, prepare drilling or workover programmes and provide engineering support during execution. The role requires IWCF Supervisor level certification, 10 years of drilling operations experience with an operating company (including 2 years on-site), and strong well design/well control capabilities.

Arabic experience is a plus and English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified.
• IWCF certification at Supervisor level.
• 10 years drilling operations engineering experience with an Operating Company, including 2 years on well-site operations.
• Skilled in well design, completions, well control and wellbore construction.
• Proficient in drilling engineering software such as Compass, Well Plan, Stress Check and Casing Seat.
• Fluent in English.
• Confident decision maker.
• Previous Middle East experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drilling and workover programmes.
• Review offset well data for potential drilling problems.
• Contribute to HSE management and leadership.
• Monitor and support operations on the assigned rig and manage changes to the drilling programme.
• Review draft well and workover proposals.
• Arrange required drilling services and ensure contractors are up to date on progress.
• Provide rig-site engineering support.
• Prepare final well drilling, workover and completion reports.
• Train and mentor junior engineers.

Our client, one of the world`s largest Oil and Gas Operating Companies are looking to appoint a Senior Operations Engineer to work with their team in Qatar. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the design of wells, preparation of drilling or workover programmes, and providing engineering support during the execution phase of a well.

Key responsibilities:

• Preparation of drilling and workover programmes.
• Review offset well data for potential drilling problems.
• Contribute to HSE management and leadership.
• Monitor and support the operations on the assigned rig and manage any required changes to the drilling program.
• Review of draft well and workover proposals.
• Arrange for required drilling services and ensure contractors are up to date on the progress of drilling operations.
• Provide rig site engineering support.
• Preparation of the final well drilling, workover and completion reports.
