Job summary

Airswift are partnering with a major Oil & Gas operator to source a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a long-term onshore assignment at Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Starting ASAP, the role requires 6 years in oil and gas, senior engineer competencies, and hands-on use of PV Elite, CAESAR II and Nozzle Pro to drive reliability and asset integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 6 years' experience in an oil and gas environment.
• Senior Engineer level competencies as per Mechanical Technical Competencies.
• Knowledge in performing design calculations with PV Elite, CAESAR II and Nozzle Pro.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support for piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and packaged equipment.
• Lead design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis and maintenance modifications.
• Define best practices and document performance improvement initiatives.
• Supervise contractors and service providers; guide junior engineers.
• Support project tie-ins and manage asset integrity and reliability.
• Facilitate RCFA, SBRAs and FRA; participate in safety workshops.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Start Date: ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)

Location: Onshore Qatar Site - Ras Laffan

Working Schedule: 5 days per week / 8-10 hours per day or as per project requirement

Key Job Accountabilities

• Provide all aspects of Mechanical Engineering support (in the general areas of piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and packaged equipment) to contribute to the division strategy and goals which include design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis, advanced troubleshooting and develop work packs to maintenance executed modifications.
• Define and document best practices within the area of expertise and recommend performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical input related to area of expertise to other disciplines and functions as per requirements to support overall business objectives. Identify plant problems concerning static equipment and piping and shall cover degradation/ failure and equipment malfunction.
• Control and supervise the activities undertaken by contractors, consultants and service providers.
• Guide less experienced engineers in implementing the company integrity and reliability systems.
• Support and facilitate smooth completion of project tie-in requirements for all systems under the area of responsibility.
• Maintain Issue Register identifying and resolving critical issues including new technology risks (under area of responsibility) which could impact new project Reliability and Availability.
• Provide Management of Change related technical support to assigned Assets (Operations) and identifying timely solutions to ensure Asset Integrity and Reliability sustaining safe and continuous plant environment.
• Active participation in Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews and Value Improvement Workshops. Steward and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), scenario-based risk assessments (SBRAs), risk screening and Formal Risk Assessment (FRA).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Knowledge and Key Skills

• 6 years' experience in an oil and gas environment.
• Attained Senior Engineer level of competencies as per Mechanical Technical Competencies.
• Knowledge in performing design calculation / verifications with software such as PV Elite, CAESAR II, Nozzle Pro.
