Job summary

The Ar-Ruwais Library is seeking a Senior Librarian to lead daily operations, overseeing cataloguing, collection development and user services to ensure accessible, high-quality library programs for the community.

The role requires a Master’s in Library Science, at least five years in a supervisory library role, and strong leadership, communication and technological adaptability to drive modern library services.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory role at a public or academic library.
Extensive knowledge of cataloguing systems, collection development principles, and information retrieval methods.
Strong leadership and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse groups.
Ability to adapt to changing technologies and implement them effectively.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of library operations including cataloguing, collection development and user services.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective management of the library.
Train and supervise library staff to maintain high-quality standards in all areas of library services.
Maintain accurate records of library materials circulation statistics and budget expenditures.
Collaborate with other departments within the organization to promote library resources and services.
Stay current with new technologies relevant to library operations.
