Job summary

Media City Qatar seeks an experienced Senior Legal Officer to join the Legal Affairs & Contracts Department. The role provides high-level legal, contractual, regulatory and compliance support across MCQ, handling complex and strategically significant matters.

The candidate will lead drafting, review and negotiation of commercial, media and technology agreements, advise on regulatory and governance issues, and manage contracts through their lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law from a recognized university.
• Admission to practice law or membership of a recognized Bar Association, Law Society or equivalent professional body is preferred/required.
• 6–8 years of post-qualification legal experience.
• Strong experience in commercial, corporate and contract law, including complex drafting and negotiation.
• Experience in media, broadcasting, digital media, content production, IP, licensing, technology or telecommunications is highly desirable.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, corporate governance, legal risk management and dispute/claims support.
• Experience with international organizations, cross-border transactions or international commercial counterparties is an advantage.
• Experience relating to broadcasting facilities, studio infrastructure, production technologies or content delivery platforms is highly desirable.
• LLM or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Professional fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of complex commercial, contractual, media, licensing, sponsorship and technology-related agreements.
• Provide legal advice on contractual risk, regulatory requirements, governance, legal structuring and implementation.
• Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable Qatari laws and regulations and prepare legal opinions, memoranda and management briefings.
• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives, including gap assessments, policy development, controls, monitoring and remediation.
• Manage assigned contracts throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring legal, commercial and regulatory requirements are addressed.
• Identify and assess legal and contractual risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and recommendations.
• Support contractual breaches, claims, disputes, complaints and investigations, including coordination with external counsel where required.
• Conduct legal and compliance due diligence for significant counterparties, projects and transactions.
• Support corporate governance matters, including resolutions, delegations of authority, policies and committee-related matters.
• Develop and improve legal templates, precedents, playbooks, procedures, guidelines and legal knowledge resources.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and quality review to junior legal team members.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel and advisers and monitor the effective delivery of assigned matters.
