Job summary

The Group Securities in Doha seeks an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead the company''s legal strategy, governance, and compliance efforts across its operations in Qatar. You will serve as the internal legal advisor, draft and review contracts, provide risk assessments, liaise with regulators, and guide the organization through complex regulatory frameworks to protect the Group''s interests.

Qualifications

• BSc/BA in law.
• More than 15 years of legal experience in corporate and legal institutions.
• A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
• Methodical with outstanding planning abilities.
• Analytical thinking with the ability to see the complexities of procedures and regulations.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Native Arabic speakers only.

Responsibilities

• Develop and recommend optimal legal solutions and strategies for the Group.
• Serve as internal legal advisor and provide expert guidance.
• Represent the Group before governmental authorities, regulatory bodies, and private entities.
• Oversee corporate governance to meet laws, regulations and regulatory requirements.
• Draft, review and provide legal opinions on contracts and other documents.
• Strengthen regulatory and stakeholder relations to ensure compliant delivery of services.
• Develop training programs to promote learning and professional development.
• Prepare legal opinions in response to consultations from the Board Chairman.
• Manage litigation matters and prepare necessary documentation for court proceedings.
• Review grievances and investigations referred by Group departments.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Legal Structuring: Develop and recommend optimal legal solutions and strategies to achieve the Group’s objectives.
• Legal Advisory: Serve as the Group’s internal legal advisor, providing expert legal guidance and recommendations.
• Legal Representation: Represent the Group as its authorized legal representative before governmental authorities, regulatory bodies, and private entities.
• Corporate Governance: Oversee the implementation of the highest standards of corporate governance in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
• Contracts and Agreements: Draft, review, and provide legal opinions on contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to the Group.
• Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations: Strengthen relationships with regulatory authorities and business partners to ensure the delivery of services in accordance with best practices and industry standards.
• Training and Development: Develop training programs that promote continuous learning, professional development, and employee motivation to ensure the delivery of high-quality services across the Group.
• Legal Opinions and Consultations: Prepare legal statements, opinions, and advisory reports in response to consultations and inquiries referred to the Legal Department by the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
• Litigation Management: Manage legal disputes and litigation matters, prepare legal memoranda, and compile the necessary documentation for court proceedings involving the Group.
• Grievances and Investigations: Review grievances and complaints and conduct necessary investigations into matters referred by various departments within the Group.
• Regulatory Compliance: Oversee compliance activities to ensure the Group’s operations align with the requirements of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA).
• Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML): Develop a comprehensive compliance and anti-money laundering framework to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
• Legal Compliance Assessments: Conduct legal compliance reviews and gap analyses to identify potential regulatory risks and areas requiring corrective action.
• Compliance Reporting: Prepare and submit legal and regulatory compliance reports to the Board of Directors and relevant regulatory authorities.
• Compliance Policies: Review and provide legal recommendations on updates and amendments to compliance policies and procedures.
• Legal Compliance Advisory: Provide legal advice and support to relevant departments and stakeholders on matters related to legal and regulatory compliance.
