Job summary

Ooredoo Group is seeking a senior legal professional to oversee all banking and finance matters, safeguarding the group’s position and ensuring regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.

The role focuses on negotiating complex banking agreements, leading due diligence, and coordinating with Group Finance, Tax, and senior management to optimise structures in line with strategic risk appetite. Arabic language skills are a plus, with 15 years in mortgage/finance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership on banking and finance transactions for the Group.

• Collaborate with Group Finance, Tax, and senior management to optimise structures.
• Provide executive-level legal advice on banking/finance transactions and risk.
• Support broader corporate matters within the Legal function.

Job overview

The purpose of the role is to Manage and oversee all legal aspects of banking and finance activities of the Group safeguarding its position and ensuring compliance with any requirements.

Your impact on our goals

Specialization on Contracts:

• Provide strategic leadership on banking and finance transactions, acting as the principal legal advisor and leading engagement with Group attorneys, senior stakeholders, and external counsel.
• Define, oversee, and govern the due diligence strategy and execution, ensuring legal, regulatory, and risk considerations are addressed at a Group level.
• Lead and approve the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex banking and finance agreements and other critical legal documents, including term sheets, memoranda of understanding, and security documentation.
• Partner with Group Finance, Tax, and senior management to optimize financial, tax, and transactional structures in alignment with corporate strategy and risk appetite.
• Provide executive-level legal advice and recommendations to the Group on all legal aspects of banking and finance transactions, including risk mitigation and compliance.
• Oversee and contribute legal expertise across broader corporate and commercial matters beyond banking and finance, as required, supporting the overall objectives of the Legal function.

Your profile

Experience

• Should have 15 years of experience in mortgage banking and have significant experience with the mortgage industry as well as other consumer financial products and services.
• Should be specializing in Finance Law.
• Must have commercial finance experience, including experience in lending transaction, secured loans, and banking matters is required such:
• Property Finance
• Project Finance
• Acquisition Finance
• Assets Finances
• Capital markets
• Islamic finance
• Strong academics and communication skills are also required

Qualifications

• Bar membership in a Gulf Region
