Job summary

Atkins Realis Group seeks a Senior HSEW Health Safety Environment & Wellbeing Engineer to promote a safe, healthy and environmentally compliant workplace on Data Centre projects. You will monitor site activities, conduct inspections, implement HSE policies, and lead risk assessments with corrective actions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 12+ years of HSE experience; NEBOSH Level 6 or IOSH is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in OHS, environmental science or engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of HSE experience on industrial or Data Centre projects.
• NEBOSH Level 6, IOSH Managing Safely or OSHA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
• Experience risk assessments, investigations and safety audits.
• Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily site activities for HSE compliance on projects.
• Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Implement and enforce HSEW policies, procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Carry out risk assessments and support mitigation development.
• Investigate incidents and near misses with corrective actions.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and awareness training.
• Ensure contractor compliance with HSEW requirements.
• Maintain HSEW records, reports and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate emergency drills and preparedness activities.
• Monitor waste management and environmental protection measures.
• Promote wellbeing initiatives and a positive safety culture.
• Liaise with authorities, clients and internal stakeholders on HSEW matters.
• Track corrective and preventive actions for timely closure.

Overview

The Senior HSEW Health Safety Environment amp Wellbeing Engineer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe healthy and environmentally compliant workplace The role involves implementing HSEW policies monitoring site activities conducting inspections identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements

Your role

• Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with health safety environmental and wellbeing requirements
• Conduct routine workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and unsafe conditions
• Implement and enforce HSEW policies procedures and permit-to-work systems
• Carry out risk assessments and support the development of mitigation measures
• Investigate accidents incidents near misses and unsafe acts and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions
• Deliver site safety inductions toolbox talks and awareness training programs
• Monitor contractor compliance with project-specific HSEW requirements
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment PPE and safety equipment
• Maintain accurate HSEW records inspection reports and regulatory documentation
• Coordinate emergency response drills and support emergency preparedness activities
• Monitor environmental aspects including waste management pollution prevention and resource conservation
• Promote employee wellbeing initiatives and contribute to a positive safety culture
• Liaise with regulatory authorities clients and internal stakeholders on HSEW-related matters
• Track corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely closure
• Support management in achieving project HSEW objectives and key performance indicators KPIs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of HSE experience in industrial or Data Centre projects.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH Level 6, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA, or equivalent are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, regulations, and international best practices.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
• Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct safety training and toolbox talks effectively.
• Strong observation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HSE reporting systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage for projects in the Middle East.
