Job summary

Qureos in Doha, Qatar is seeking a Senior General Accountant with 5+ years of relevant experience to oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, and audits.

You will prepare journal entries, manage AP/AR, reconciliations, cash flow, budgeting support, and collaborate with internal departments. Native-level Arabic and English proficiency is required, and candidates based in Qatar are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant General Accounting experience preferred in a structured corporate environment in Qatar.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounting documentation.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Manage AP and AR transactions and perform reconciliations.
• Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior General Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant General Accounting experience to oversee and support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing activities, and audit requirements. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with internal departments.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounting documentation.




• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.




• Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.




• Manage and review Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.




• Perform and review bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.




• Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.




• Prepare and assist with monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis.




• Monitor departmental expenses and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.




• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable statutory requirements.




• Coordinate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and finance-related matters.




• Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.




• Identify accounting discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement appropriate corrective actions.




• Contribute to improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.




• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff where required.




• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Experience handling AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.




• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.




• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.




• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.




• Strong verbal and written communication skills.




• Native-level Arabic and English proficiency is required.




• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
